Welcome to the Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham.

The parish of Our Lady of Walsingham, established in 1984 under the Pastoral Provision of  St. John Paul II, was the first Catholic parish in the United States dedicated to Our Lady under this title and was a parish of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston until 2012. 

The Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter was established on January 1, 2012 through the Apostolic Constitution, Anglicanorum coetibus, by Pope Benedict XVI, to secure a permanent place for our Patrimony.  The parish was named as the Principal Church of the Ordinariate at the time and Msgr. Jeffrey N. Steenson was chosen by the Holy See as the first ordinary.  In February of 2016, the church was officially designated a Cathedral when Bishop Steven J. Lopes was ordained as the first bishop of the Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter. We appreciate the continuing support of Pope Francis in the mission of evangelization and reconciling others to Holy Mother Church.

Our Order of Mass is the Ordinaraite Form of the Roman Rite as has been promulgated by the Holy See under the title Divine Worship: The Missal.  The text is at once distinctly and traditionally Anglican in character, content, and structure, while also being clearly and recognizably a form of the Roman Rite.
