“For I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you." (1 Cor 11:23)
The word catechesis derives from the Greek word meaning to resound or echo.
The work of catechesis in the Church, then, is the echoing down through the centuries
of the “faith once delivered unto the saints.” (Jude 1:3)
The faith formation programs at Our Lady of Walsingham seek to foster a rich and abiding relationship with the Person of Jesus Christ, and with his Mother Mary, who daily instructs us to "do whatever he tells you." (Jn 2:5)
It is with a Marian heart, then, attentive and obedient to the voice of God, that we seek to know Christ, so that in knowing him, we may love him; in loving him, we may serve him; and in serving him, we may find that true "peace of God, which passeth all understanding." (Phil 4:7)
All of our catechetical endeavors are oriented toward this personal knowledge of Our Lord and Lady, with the hope that it bears much fruit in a spirit of ongoing renewal and conversion of life, and a missionary zeal for our shared call to evangelization.
Formation and catechesis is available to parishioners and friends at all stages of life, from early childhood, youth, and throughout adulthood. See the menu on the left for more information on each of our programs.
