First Communion

 

Please email the necessary documents for First Communion or Confirmation at Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Church to the Children's Faith Formation Coordinator, Mrs. Holly Prestenbach at [email protected].

• Candidate's Birth Certificate;
• Candidate’s Baptismal Certificate;
• Candidate's First Communion Certificate;
• Sponsor's Letter of Good Standing Form (if Sponsor is not a member of OLW)

FIRST COMMUNION WILL BE ON May 5, 2024

Our Sacrament Preparation courses follow a one year cycle, from September through May. For additional information feel free to email the Children's Faith Formation Coordinator.


Please note the parameters for First Communion:

FIRST COMMUNION: 
First Confession & First Holy Communion Preparation is a one-year program for children in the 1st or 2nd grade. Students must be at least 7 years old to receive First Holy Communion.
Classes begin the 1st Sunday after Labor Day and follow the same weekly schedule as Sunday School. Regular attendance at Sunday Mass is expected. First Communions are typically on Divine Mercy Sunday.

In order to receive First Communion at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham, the family must be registered members of the Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter, or else have a signed letter from the Pastor of their home parish giving his permission for the child to receive catechetical preparation and the Sacrament at this parish.

Following the Readiness Model for Confirmation Preparation, if you discern that your child may be ready to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation along with their First Communion, you are welcome to join the Saturday Confirmation classes as well ( see below regarding Confirmation).

• ONLINE PARISH SACRAMENTAL INFORMATION FORM (Link provided during Program Year)
• LETTER OF PERMISSION FROM PASTOR (if not members of the Ordinariate)
