Prison Ministry

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Our goal is to build a ministry which will serve as prison ministry volunteers. As a volunteer, you will help offenders of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice experience the love of Christ and his Church through education, fellowship, and the Sacraments.

To Become a Prison Ministry Volunteer:
Prayerfully discern the call to prison ministry
Obtain a written endorsement from your pastor
Complete parish Safe Environment training by visiting CMGconnect.org
Using the dropdown, scroll to Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter and click Go to Organization. Register for a new account and follow directions. Training is renewed every 3 years.
PLEASE NOTE: If you’ve previously completed OLW parish training, please let us know so that we can verify your status.
PLEASE NOTE: If you’ve previously completed training with the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, you must use an alternate email address from the one you used with ADGH to successfully register for a new OLW account.

Training is renewed every 2 years-alternating online and in-person.As a Volunteer:
Your name will be added to the TDCJ Jester III Unit’s access list.
You will “shadow” with us and members of the St. Laurence Catholic Church prison ministry who have been providing volunteer services to this unit for many years.
You will have an opportunity to assist with- Christian Initiation – Mondays – 6pm-8pm
- Society of St. John DeMatha – Wednesdays – 6pm-8pm (helping offenders prepare for and to make the transition from prison to a productive life. Additional training required.)
- Catholic Religious Services – Thursdays – 6pm-8pm
